With vocals that are sung almost like a lullaby, the song has a beautifully eerie sound to it
Christian Wethered’s new single ‘Into the Garden’ is a deft display of the artist’s songwriting ability, as he ruminates on the concept of home.
A rudimentary track consisting of Wethered’s gentle singing and complex fingerstyle guitar, the song's lyrics are given centre stage as he explores the way in which our perception of home can change, all through the story of Adam and Eve.
With vocals that are sung almost like a lullaby, the song has a beautifully eerie sound to it, as Wethered sings about sin, and the ominous concept of “leaving the garden.”
In a statement, the Dublin-based singer said the song “charts the tragic but necessary shattering of one’s ideas of perfection, innocence, and home.”
“Once they have left, the lovers cannot return to the Garden of Eden – similarly, each new experience, while beautiful, also has an element of sacrifice” he said.
The song’s video was filmed by Nestor Romero Clemente, and sees Wethered performing the song in a dimly-lit church.

Wethered’s first single, ‘Mr Medicine Man’ was premiered by Hot Press, while his 2021 debut LP Mon Petit Jardin was the magazine’s Top Folk Album of 2021.
Playing at the Ruby sessions, Electric Picnic and Beyond The Pale, Wethered has also supported the likes of John Francis Flynn and Bonobo. He also teaches poetry at University College Dublin.
