Since the release of her debut single ‘Half The Man’ in May of this year, Irish singer-songwriter Ciara Lawless has been building anticipation for her next drop from admiring new listeners. The reward arrived in the form of ‘I Am Your Healer,’ Lawless’ new single released on the first of this month.

Of Lawless’ debut ‘Half The Man,’ Hot Press labelled the rising Irish talent as, “a promising artist capable of delving into difficult themes about the human experience, all the while turning them into melodic pieces of beauty.” Her contemporary pop music explores relatable themes of love, self-discovery, and healing, while also diving into current issues such as climate change.

With a distinctive melodic voice built on her classical and opera training at the Academy of Music in Tullamore, her mellow music is a blend of pop, folk, and classical sonics that evoke a sense of warm nostalgia. ‘I Am Your Healer’ opens with a choir of textured vocals, before dropping into smooth acoustic guitar strumming.

“I am your healer, I am your goddess, your medicine woman, so won’t you let me in?” she questions on the chorus in a sweet tenor. Electric guitar accessories the raw acoustic bassline of the song. What begins as a sweet question turns into a full-on belt by the final lines of the track, as Lawless unleashes the full power of her polished vocal talents.

It is both a love song and a depiction of a woman on the edge of letting go. Lawless loops the lyrics, “Let my love in,” as the track fades out the way it began.

Like ‘Half The Man,’ which explores the effect of Alzheimers on a father-son relationship, Lawless manages yet again to shine light on heavy topics and produce a beautiful, on-repeat result.

The 24-year-old Irish musician made her start as a Radio DJ on RosFM, the Roscommon local radio, presenting three weekly programmes and interviewing other Irish artists. Doubly working in her flower shop by day, she’s spent the past few years diving deeper into her music career and self-recording a full album – due in April 2024 – by night.

Lawless has had a sweltering summer performing at various festivals, including The Mná Festival at Dun na Sí, Co. Westmeath and The Lovestock Festival in Tuamgraney, Co. Clare. Most recently the pop singer-songwriter took the stage at the Healing Spirit Festival in Co. Cavan, just last weekend. But she’s no novice to live performing, having journeyed in the past to artist conferences and music shows, and even performing live in Los Angeles and Cannes.

Ciara Lawless’ debut album is expected for next April. Her music is released and distributed by Human Angel Records.
