Rising folk singer Cormac Looby is back with his second single of 2024.
Irish singer-songwriter Cormac Looby returns with his latest introspective track ‘Ordinary Woman’.
Opening softly with sincere vocals over guitar strings, the tune builds into uptempo percussion and trumpet melodies. The latest single off his upcoming album A Perpetual State of Irony, the song is reassurance that Cormac’s new album is bound to be a banquet of folk-pop tracks.
‘Ordinary Woman' finds its roots in a thought-provoking piece of graffiti Cormac stumbled upon during his time living in Galway: "Don’t be a fearful old crone, be a young Irish rebel." This powerful statement sparked a creative journey, culminating in a tribute to the quiet courage exhibited every day by women, in the face of the constant threat of gender-based violence.
An intensely emotional narrative about the everyday life of ordinary women, the new song comes as a follow-up to his critically-acclaimed release ‘Angel Baby’’ which received widespread radio play and national media coverage in May.
Cormac's debut single 'I Don't Need Your Love' was released in 2020, independently amassing over 20,000 streams and featuring on BBC Introducing and RTÉ Radio 1 Recommends.
The singer has since released a debut EP Things We Don't Control, and many singles including 'Lobsters' and 'I Don't Want To Let You Down'.
