The Dundalk singer-songwriter has brought his signature folksy twist to the Christmas song genre with his new single 'Christmas'll Ruin Me'
David Keenan's new single features his creative and romantic partner Evanne Kilgallon, as the pair duet on this Charming and acerbic Christmas song in aid of the Dublin Simon Community.
Former Hot Press cover star David Keenan has infused the tired Christmas song genre with his zesty humour and zany sensibility. 'Christmas'll Ruin Me' features guitar playing, harmonies and festive sincerity while still alluding to a slightly wry sense of irony- how in spite of this being supposedly the most wonderful time of the year, it's when people can often feel at their loneliest.
The track also makes use of full and warm fiddle playing accompanied with piano, making for a festive and uplifting sound.
'Christmas'll Ruin Me' deals with the real life struggle that can accompany the holiday season. It explores anxiety, addiction stigma, and the pressures that come with conforming to overwhelming consumerism around this time of year.
It’s a hopeful and humorous tale with flashes of nudity and the important reminder that love and compassion for ourselves and each other is vital at Christmas.
However, the song also practices what it preaches with money raised from the single going towards the Dublin Simon Community.

Donations raised by the single will go to Dublin Simon Community who provide homeless, housing and treatment services to people facing the trauma and stress of homelessness in Ireland, especially vital during these winter months.
