Since previous venture Ed Zealous called time, Drew Makes Noise has been immersed in a world of synths, guitar effects and canned orchestras - living in a psych-pop-prog-rock world all of his own.
DIY artist Drew Makes Noise has shared his latest musical endeavour in the form of new single 'Baby Blue'.
Wandering musically in the psychedelic pastures of The Flaming Lips and MGMT, all from his home studio, the Belfast musician has just announced a performance slot at the legendary Stendhal festival.
An ode to his then-unborn child, Drew combines his wicked pop sensibilities with psychedelic and alternative production on 'Baby Blue' - released last Thursday, July 5th.
“Baby Blue was the in Utero nickname for, at the time of writing the tune, the baby of unknown sex growing in my wife's tummy," Drew tells Hot Press.
"They were so named when they were the size of a blueberry according to those antenatal sites. The moment I wrote the strings piece I knew this song would be a nursery rhyme, meditating on the things i'd like to say to the eventual "he" who popped out. A nursery rhyme carrying a PG certificate. We played the demo version full volume just before baby blue took his leave of the womb, much to the bemusement of the midwife. ”
