Kerry singer-songwriter Emma Edel’s sixth single release explores a more mature and laidback sound.
Emerging pop artist Emma Edel has unveiled another chillwave R&B track with 'On My Mind', oozing with embellished synths and smooth vocals.
The independent musician sounds more confident than ever on the new track, having moved to London to pursue her dreams from her native Kerry in recent months.
Edel's dreamy new single discusses the desire for someone to be around more and craving commitment within a relationship. Recorded in December of last year over two days with Alex O’Keeffe, Emma recalls the origins of 'On My Mind'.
“There was a massive storm happening outside, it was basically dark during the day and I think the mood outside made the studio feel like a little warm hideaway where I could live with the song in a relaxed way," she recounts. "I think that comes through in the final production. I brought a really basic demo to Alex and we worked over two days to bring it to life. We wanted the verses to be spacious and laid back to let the lyrics shine through, allowing the choruses to have more movement, groove and drive."
"I've waited far too long, stability is why I'm drawn/Let me paint a picture so you can figure it out quicker," she sings in the opening lines, as glittering synths and a laidback guitar melody drip through.

Not confining her sound to one genre, Emma takes inspiration from pop, hip-hop, R&B and dance to blend a unique sound. 'On My Mind' features universally honest, relatable, conversational lyrics but the sound leans more towards R&B.
The track boasts reverb-infused, warm electric guitars, layered airy backing vocals and an intimate nostalgic warm soundscape. The chorus takes it up a notch with soulful vocals, a catchy hook and a modern beat.
"In the studio a lot of the vocal harmonies and adlibs were improvised so what came out felt natural on the spot!" Emma explains.
Emma recently performed alongside Robert Grace for iRadio’s iLoveIrish Live, supported Lyra in the INEC Club, opened for True Tides in Mike The Pies and supported Skinny Living at The Soundhouse. She also took to the stage for a sell-out performance of her first hometown headline show at St Michael's Church in March with a full band performance.
Emma Edel’s debut single ‘If I Can’t Have You’ was released at the end of 2020 and it peaked at No.4 on the Irish Radio Breakers chart, hit No.40 on the Irish Shazam charts and surpassed 4 million impacts to date on Irish radio.
Throughout 2021, she released three singles, ‘Meant To Be’, ‘Good Time’ and ‘Why We Try’, gaining the singer traction from Hot Press and significant radio play. ‘I Reckon Something’ her previous single released in June of this year, made waves on radio stations across Ireland - landing the song at No.7 on the Irish Radio Breaker’s Chart.
Learning piano from a young age, Edel began writing songs at 15 as an outlet during her teens. In 2014 Emma made the move to Dublin, where she explored her songwriting and sound, attended BIMM and played with different songwriters and bands. She spent lockdown at home in Kerry, writing and releasing music which has since come to a brilliant fruition.
