"I’m more in love with playing music now than ever," Eoin Glackin professed while discussing his upcoming releases.
Dublin's Eoin Glackin is giving listeners a glimpse into his forthcoming album today with the release of dynamic leading single 'The Way You Looked at Me'.
The track sees a shift in Glackin, who now seeks to amplify the folk and blues elements which previously lay on the periphery of his country ballad sound. He finger picks the guitar and six string banjo throughout most of the track, taking inspiration from mid-century country blues artists like Mississippi John Hurt and Lightnin’ Hopkins.
'The Way You Looked at Me' has a captivating depth, brought forth by genre-melding backing vocals and an ambient lead, as if lifted from a 1950's ballad.
"My feet are stumbling/ As if they're up on stilts/ I see sparks in the dark where they usen’t to be/ It must be the way you looked at me," Glackin croons over backing harmonies.
The track is the first release off of Glackin's forthcoming record The Cost of Living, which is set to drop this September.

"All of a sudden, I feel like I have a perspective on the whole thing, that I didn’t at the time," the artist said on the upcoming release.
Glackin's first record, Not Lost, came out over a decade ago in 2011. Since then, the singer-songwriter has been non-stop touring, writing, and recording.
"It was a mad blur to be honest," Glackin professed, adding "The last few years, with lockdowns, getting married, becoming a father, I’ve been able to pause and take stock and look back over the last decade or so and I feel blessed with it all. I’m more in love with playing music now than ever, it means more to me than ever.”
To create The Cost of Living, Glackin reunited with acclaimed Irish producer and bassist Karl Odlum. The two worked together on 2018's Fires of Innocence.
The Cost of Living also saw the reunion between Glackin and famed producer Ian Grimble, who Glackin worked with on his 2011 debut and its 2013 follow up, Rain Finally Came.
“My old pal Ian Grimble mixed this new album," recounted Glackin. "Being back with him in the same room in London that I made my first record in, was a trip. I was only a puppy when we first sat down together at a mixing desk. I still don’t know what most of the buttons do."
