Emerging like a heroine from the post-pandemic trenches, Eve Bell stuns with ‘TV,’ the Irish singer-songwriter’s first single release in three years.
Donegal-bred, Dublin-based Eve Belle, the self-proclaimed “singer of sad bops,” has officially made her return. After making a name for herself in the Dublin music scene supporting Hozier at his Irish shows a few years back, the now-self-managed artist is due to release her new EP Sharp Relief Friday, September 22.
Preceding the release of her forthcoming EP, ‘TV’ deals with the relatable, modern subject at hand: the characters we become enamoured with on our screens. Belle sings about the blurring lines between fiction and reality, dealing honestly with sexuality, over-stimulation and the at-times-unbearable weight of the world. Nevertheless, it’s an acoustic-driven guitar track sparkling with Belle's raspy, gut-wrenching vocals and a surprisingly uplifting orchestra.
‘TV’ is a supremely cathartic release. With lines like, “I’m a monster when there’s only so much sorrow I can sponsor,” Belle is utilising her music for exactly what music is best at: saying the things we feel we can’t voice in real life.

Released September 15, ‘TV’ arrives after Belle made waves on Electric Picnic’s main stage this summer. Belle's ‘First Impressions,’ a remix with the Irish hip-hop force Tebi Rox, led to serious national radio play in 2020. But if there’s one thing she’s made clear – other than her adept hand for penning raw, emotionally searing pop hits – it’s that this young Irish singer-songwriter is no one trick wonder.
Sharp Relief is supported by the National Lottery through the Arts Council for Northern Ireland and produced in Belfast at Start Together Studios with Darragh Tibbs. Eve Belle celebrates the release with a show at Belfast’s Sunflower Public House on October 11, tickets available now.
