The original song was released in 2010, acting as a beautifully reverent love song. Ezra Williams has added a Christmas feel to it.
Wicklow native Ezra Williams has covered Landon Pigg and Lucy Schwartz's song 'Darling I Do', after they heard the song while watching Shrek Forever After in the waiting room of a hospital.
The single originally landed in 2010, and sees Pigg and Schwartz compeliment each other's voices in the duet.
"Golden leaves looked brown to me / The world had less colour without you / Shapes in the sky looked plain to my eyes / The world had less color without you," the loving track opens.
Greystones bedroom pop/indie musician Ezra Williams (fka Smoothboi Ezra) has put their own spin on the song, using minimal instrumentation, soft piano chords and layered vocals for a festive, romantic offering.
"There was a picture of Jedward wearing Santa hats on a bulletin board beside the TV and since then this song has felt very Christmassy to me. I waited so long in the hospital that day they actually played the movie twice and I was excited to hear the song again, but I got called to get my bloods done just before the scene with the song so I tried to memorise the melody in my head until I could watch it again when I got home. It sounds morbid but I was only there for a checkup and I was bored and I really love Shrek, and Jedwardz."

Williams released their EP, Stuck, last year. They also released an acoustic version of 'My Own Person' in 2021, but 'Darling I Do' marks their first release of 2022.
