Fia Moon crafted the pop ballad along with acclaimed Irish songwriter Day_S.
Emerging Irish pop star Fia Moon has returned with a brand new single ‘By Now.’
The new track dropped today (January 14) and explores the pain of watching “lost lovers move on.” ‘By Now’ is a track that is close to the pop star’s heart and offers an intimate view of the singer which fans haven’t seen before.
“The inspiration for ‘By Now’ came from some deep-rooted feelings that I thought I had already processed,” she said.
“When a relationship ends, you can lose touch with the other person, so when you discover they’ve moved on to a new relationship it can come as a surprise — and it can sting! This song was about me figuring out some of those feelings.”
Fia paints her feelings on top of a minimal, piano-led instrumentation that provides the perfect canvas for the singer’s raw delivery. The independent pop artist feels both tender and urgent on this emotional single.

‘By Now’ was produced by Philip Magee — known for his work with Kodaline, The Script and Gavin James making it an all-Irish affair. Famed Irish songwriter Day_S also helped Fia write the track. This is a fact the young starlet is proud of.
“One of the silver linings of being back in Ireland over lockdown was getting to collaborate with other Irish creatives,” says Fia. “ ‘By Now’ is the first song I have ever written with another Irish person and I’m so glad it was with DAY_S.”
“This song is so raw and personal to me and there are few people out there who I can be this vulnerable with — he gave me such a safe space to create.”
The focus of this track was to let the melody and the lyrics do the talking as opposed to over-producing what already works. Philip Magee was instrumental in this:
“I wanted to keep the production super-minimal with the focus on the vocals as they are mostly from the original demo, which was recorded in one take,” said Fia whose single 'Falling For You' featured in Hot Press' top 50 tracks of 2021.
“Philip Magee is such a renowned name in the Irish music industry and I'm so glad we got to work together on this; he is a complete joy to work with and always makes me feel at ease,” she added.
Fia is one of the most prolific artists on the rise in Ireland at the minute. She has received multiple radio plays and is the 4th most played independent female artist in Ireland. The Irish Women In Harmony member is hoping to continue her rapid ascent to super stardom in 2022.
