Dublin native Fly the Nest (real name Stephen Cooper) started his musical journey at a young age, performing in various bands before starting solo project Fly the Nest,
Irish singer-songwriter Fly the Nest has released an energetic new single, 'Old Street Lover', with Cooper's powerful vocals carrying the fierce track.
Previous releases from the act include 'Animal' and debut single 'Wild Ride' - a former Track of the Day.
The song features a driving beat, wailing rhythmic guitars, and Fly the Nests’ signature wide-ranging soundscape.
“This song is about having a connection with someone that’s ultimately lost," Fly the Nest says of the track's origins.
"Though it hurts to see it end, you really do wish them the best and hope they find what they’re looking for.”
The verses of the song tell the story of the day that the connection all comes crashing down. The narrator outlines hard conversations and shared memories, all the while knowing that they have to let the relationship go. The uplifting chorus expresses hope that the other person finds happiness, comfort, and satisfaction with whatever they decide to do in the future.

The song was produced and recorded by Peter Doherty in County Tyrone.
As well as writing and releasing his own music, Stephen also writes for film and TV - opening up another facet of his creativity. Cooper now spends his time between Ireland and Denmark, and gigs regularly across Scandinavia. The Ballinteer native plays Irish pubs in Oslo and Copenhagen, after being plucked from the Dublin circuit. And between all that, he also writes music for an advertising company in LA.
2021 is proving to be another big year for Fly the Nest.
