Summer has been good to Dublin-based indie-rock quartet Four Faces. Back with their newest single ‘Better Option,’ it’s only getting hotter.
Rising Dub band Four Faces caught our attention with their debut last year, and lately it’s been hard to look away. The indie-rock group releases their newest single ‘Better Option’ today. An incendiary and thrilling tune, Four Faces’ fresh release is a promising foresight into what should be an exciting rest of the year for the magnetic foursome.
The energetic indie-rock track was, initially, a joke. Written and recorded by guitarist Eoin Butterfield during a summer songwriting session in 2021, the Four Faces’ member had no intention of using the tune on the band’s material, which offers a diverse blend of rock and heavy-handed indie-pop.
“I didn’t think I’d ever use the song as it was way too silly for any of my projects, but when I showed it to the band while cobbling our first setlist together it was clear that we were into something,” says Butterfield.

Four Faces’ live sound is a call for noise and human connection, and the record echoes that. Polished guitar lines lead the song, while the insistent drums guide its rock core. Bright synth decorates the ambiance of the track, with layered vocals on the chorus adding a depth to the sound. A scorching guitar solo closes out the song; Four Faces have left no sound space untouched on their ambitious new single.
“We’re here. We are out to make a statement as a band, from both a recorded and live perspective,” says frontman Daniel Ffrench on the release. “There has been a healthy urgency in our camp to crack on this year and take things seriously. Summer has been good to us and we have a lot of music to put out and want to get on the road immediately.’’
Since the release of ‘Old Scars’ in May of this year, Four Faces have had a blazing summer. They kicked things off with a sold-out gig in The Workmans Cellar, soaking up national and international praise, with airplay on BBC Across The Line, Dan Hegarty and Beta Da Silva on RTE 2FM, and Charlie Ashcroft on Amazing Radio.
Just announced as the supporting act for Damien Dempsey’s December shows in Belfast, at Mandela Hall, and Dublin’s Vicar Street, and set to headline Workmans Club on October 13, Four Faces are expected to release even more live show dates for the Autumn and Winter. And with the dazzling energy of this new track, it won’t be a set to miss.
‘Better Option’ was mixed and mastered at the hands of Four Faces’ longtime collaborator Aidan Cunnigham and recorded at The Clinic Recording Studios by David Anthony Curley and Cian Synott.
Four Faces will headline The Workmans Club main room on October 13, presented by MCD Productions, with tickets on sale now via Ticketmaster.
