The single marks a strong debut from the Dublin band.
Launching their debut single 'Monsters' last month with a gig at Whelan's Upstairs with support from Speakers and The Psychs, Green Gurl crashed onto the scene with 'Monsters'.
Showcasing their oddly phrased riffs and cathartic choruses, the band introduced themselves with 'Monsters' a raw and unfiltered offering.
'Monsters' is designed to serve as a lifeline for those trapped in toxic relationships. Describing the sense of being drawn in and misled by somebody and not having the strength to break free, the lyrics lay bare an internal battle that remains hidden beneath a veneer of composure and glassy guitars, only to explode in a cathartic release.
The tune implodes when the gritty guitars and bass paired with the powerful drums in the chorus rally under the vocals that cry out for help. 'Monsters” is a compelling narrative of a struggle that many people face alone.
Green Gurl are fronted by Brazilian vocalist Dessa Vanuci who came to Ireland seeking a band who shared her creative vision. This led to the serendipitous collaboration with songwriter Steven Kennedy.

Ultimately the pair recruited bassist Sammy Barsoum and drummer Colm Geraghty. The group aim to created 90s pop-rock inspired music such as the likes of Paramore, Incubus, Alanis Morissette and Nirvana.
With one single under their belt, the band have promised a second offering this July. For now though, we'll just have to content ourselves with 'Monsters'.
