The Berlin-based photographer, concert booker and musician's debut album, Between the Mountians & the Mystery, was released last month.
Based in Berlin, Dublin-born singer-songwriter Joey Gavin recently released his debut album, featuring the beautiful track 'Golden Hour'.
The fourth track on Between the Mountains & The Mystery opens with gentle guitar strumming, before Gavin's soft vocals enter the fray. "Forget the A to B, there is the you and me and the road ahead," he croons. The album title presumably was also plucked from the song's lyrics ("Between the mountains, that's where I wanna be").
With elements of Villagers and Fionn Regan, the track has deeply textured vocals and clever background instrumentation, strings and drum beats combine with his ethereal voice for gorgeous results.
Between the Mountains & The Mystery was recorded over three years between Dublin, Kerry, Crete and Berlin. The project is a work of patience, joy and community, exploring classic songwriting blended with contemporary experimental music and psychedelic textures.
Since his debut EP release back in 2017, Joey has toured the US, Ireland and Europe extensively, refining his music soundscapes from punk to folk and lullabies.

In the last decade, Joey has co-founded Irish noise rock band THUMPER, Irish experimental group, Actor Leviathan and Berlin-based improvised band Deep Turtle. He has also collaborated, co-written and toured with the likes of Bryan Eubanks on Ligia Lewis Dance Piece, Cathy Davey, Nicholas Kluzek, and US songwriter Elizabeth Moen.
