The original track is from Burnside's sophomore album, 'Into The Depths of Hell'.
Joshua Burnside’s second album, Into the Depths Of Hell, was a Hot Press favourite back in 2020. Lauded by critics and fans alike, the experimental folk that thunders across the record proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the County Down singer-songwriter is much more than just another troubadour attempting to carve a place in an over-saturated landscape.
After a string of remixed and reimagined tracks from the record, Burnside is releasing the acoustic version of one of Into The Depths' fan favourite tracks: 'Whiskey Whiskey'. The stripped back release was captured in the earliest gestation of the recording process, and gives audiences a glimpse into Burnside's process.
Written on a flight to London and captured in Burnside's studio in The Vault in East Belfast, the demo for 'Whiskey Whiskey' encapsulates the humanity and spirit of Into The Depths. The early take is riddled with Burnside's idiosyncratic melodies and textures, giving the familiar track a fresh, intimate feel.
