Track of the Day: Julie Dawson, ‘Silly Little Song’
The track marks the first collaboration between the NewDad lead singer and electronic producer Jack Hamill (aka Space Dimension Controller).
NewDad’s Julie Dawson new solo track ‘Silly Little Song’ is cinematic and otherworldly tune with a healthy touch of funkyness.
Marking the first collaboration between Dawson and Irish electronic producer Space Dimension Controller, aka Jack Hamill, the single was written while on hiatus between NewDad albums.
Originally hearing about Hamill through a mutual friend, Dawson received a playlist of Hamill’s instrumental ideas, chose to work on those that resonated with her, and quickly recorded the vocals at the Roundhouse studios late in the evenings. Initially joining forces to work on just one or two tracks very casually, the pair quickly found the process fluid and fruitful.
With this new release, Dawson aims to break away from traditional song structures, showcasing their willingness to embrace unconventional sounds and arrangements together.
