Following performances at The Great Escape, Sea Sessions, Indiependence and more, and ahead of BreakOut West Festival in Canada in October, phelan offers up her newest musical creation.
Irish indie folk-pop artist, katie phelan, has returned for her first release of 2023, the endearing single 'board games'. Spending the last year refining her craft across festivals and live stages both in Ireland and the UK, the experience of festival-performance and touring with Norwegian singer-songwriter Siv Jakobsen has clearly provided the perfect pause for reflection, resulting in this stunning number.
With katie's distinctly captivating vocals at the forefront, this sickly-sweet, innocent track explores the light-hearted moments of falling in love where you might least expect it, yet cherish it the most. Witty lyricsm and paired back instrumentalism offers a pure basis for the artist's words and vocals to flow.
Subtle guitar and keys crescendo at the track's chorus, with light drum beats introduced, building the track away from the sleepy opening.

Speaking about the track, Katie said: “‘board games’ is genuinely based on a party I went to
where I was playing Jenga. It’s about all the little funny moments of falling in love and hoping they don’t get boring or turn into something you look back on one day.”
Katie is currently gearing up for BreakOut West festival in Canada this October, with the unique opportunity to represent Ireland amongst other womxn in music after being selected as a Keychange EU artist.
