Renowned DJ and producer Kormac has dropped his newest electronica hit 'Waiting On You,' featuring Irish vocalist MayKay.
Dublin composer, producer and performer Kormac has released his latest electronica bop, ‘Waiting on You,’ a joy-filled track made in collaboration with vocalist MayKay. Featuring an exciting arrangement of strings, sweeps and synths, the new track further underlines Kormac’s unique artistic flair.
“There are three completely different uses of MayKay’s voice in the track,” Kormac explains of the track’s production process. “[There’s] the sombre, delicate opening where it's simply her voice and piano, the chorus hook made to sound like a sample, and the chopped up, glitched, distorted snippets of her voice.”
With 15 years of experience, two albums and hundreds of live shows under his belt, Kormac has been able to perfectly hone his sound, achieving a ground-breaking yet collaborative style through the manipulation of organic sounds while working alongside talented musicians and producers.
‘Waiting on You’ comes just ahead of Kormac’s Easter Saturday show at The National Concert Hall, entitled Always The Sound: A Retrospective.
“My most recent album, Equivalent Exchange, was actually written with the National Concert Hall in mind,” Kromac explained. “Equivalent Exchange was the first body of work I’d written that used an orchestra on every track, and I visited the hall every week for over a year watching any orchestra I could, learning as much as possible. Over that period, I really fell in love with the room. When it came time to mix the album, I tried to make it sound as if the listener was sitting right in the centre of row four.”

The retrospective is slated to feature a handful of pieces from Kormac’s back catalogue, predominantly from his albums Wordplay and Doorsteps, alongside his 2023 collaborative album Equivalent Exchange. Kormac, accompanied by the Irish Chamber Orchestra, will also debut various numbers from his recent film and TV soundtracks.
“I can’t think of a better venue to showcase my earlier work, the music I’ve been making recently and to show people where I’m headed in the future. I’m so delighted to have a huge number of the collaborators I’ve worked with over the last 15 years joining me on the night. I think it’s going to be one for the books!”
