22-year-old Galway singer-songwriter LAOISE has created a new pop experience with latest track ‘Healthy’, which explores healthier ways to approach life, love and relationships.

Beat-driven melodies and groove-infused rhythms connect smooth verses to euphoric vocals, with insightful lyrics born out of LAOISE's own time in therapy.

The artist regularly writes dreamy, ambitious and frank pop songs about relationships and heartbreak, often with moodier, more introspective lyrics and juxtaposed with upbeat electro and synth production.

“Writing this song felt so natural,” LAOISE says about the origins of ‘Healthy’.

“I was discovering a new way of viewing the world - I spent some time offline and started listening to myself. Things like asking myself what I wanted, why I wanted the things I did and if they were really beneficial to me as a person, or if they were attempts to obtain some sort of external validation - that’s very confusing to navigate as an artist.” She adds:

“It was also extremely uncomfortable calling myself out like that, but I think it worked as a great act of healing, because in the long run when you rely on others to give you validation, it stunts personal and artistic growth. Now, I’ve learned to trust my instincts and give myself what I want and need where I can. For me, that’s Healthy.”

Growing up surrounded by traditional Irish music, LAOISE learned to play the fiddle at the age of 5, and attended traditional Irish sessions with her parents - embodying music's sense of togetherness.

Since then, LAOISE takes cues from the smooth pop and electro production of acts like Tove Styrke, Troye Sivan and MO and incorporating elements of synth, indie and alternative pop.

Recording, producing and releasing her music completely independently, her previous single ‘Again’ was nominated for an RTÉ Choice Music Prize and her latest EP 'Mad' has pushed her overall streaming figures to over three million.

A first glimpse into new, softer, more authentic material brings exciting promise for LAOISE's pop future.
