Check out the vibrant offering from Lemoncello’s debut self-titled below.
Lemoncello are set to take the Irish music scene by storm. It’s been a long time coming for the duo - Laura Quirke and Claire Kinsella - as they release their long-awaited debut album Lemoncello today.
The third track off Lemoncello, ‘Dopamine,’ is certainly worth the wait.
An album standout, ‘Dopamine’ sees the duo hunt the apocalyptic hinterlands of social media for a sense of self-worth. Blustery harmonies fade in and out of focus, clicking the lyrics into gear. Populated with images of dazed-and-confused doom scrolling and questions of body image, the offering is a compelling vignette of the everyday.
Gravelly acoustics blend with spectral synths and created sounds, adding gravity to the posed question: “If I delete my face will my body disappear?”
The track is accompanied by a dazzling film directed by Sophie O’Donovan.

“With the video for Dopamine we wanted to play with the idea of being addicted to your phone, without taking it too seriously,” says O’Donovan. “We created a world that’s a mixture between bored housewives from the 1950s and some dystopian future where people never leave their homes. As Laura and Claire doom scroll, the people they see online appear in the room with them."
