The Dublin-based alt-pop musician has put out a shimmering love song, a follow-up to last month's grungy 'Plastic'.
Lucy McWilliams is back with her latest brand-new single 'Follow Me', a song that tackles love head-on in her signature tender, emotive style.
A track with a strong drumbeat, Lucy soars above striking guitar with her softly powerful vocals. Like Billie Eilish meets Alvvays, she steps clearly into the indie rock genre with 'Follow Me' and soars above. Longing, vulnerable lyrics in the chorus continue through to a splendid chorus that drives home the emotional heart of the song.
Speaking about the track she explains, "Follow me at its core is just a straightforward love song. It’s about being excited about someone, and feeling all the possibilities of the world in that person. At a time, that was a different kind of love that I hadn’t experienced. I think it’s a weird feeling, going through different relationships, but never really feeling loved. But then stumbling upon someone and within a small window of time, suddenly feeling at ease."
'Follow Me' is Lucy's third single this year, following 'Slow Dancing' and last month's 'Plastic'. Emotional narratives are at the centre of the singer’s songwriting, which has garnered her over 16 million streams on Spotify alone. Based in London, McWilliams keeps her Irish storytelling link strong through her tender, heartfelt lyrics and relatable songs.
This new release expands the artist’s genre umbrella even wider, with a discography that roams from expansive indie to slinky R&B, swaying acoustic pop to ‘90s-rom-com-style rock.
