Lyra’s newly unveiled single ‘Queen’ comes three weeks ahead of her self-titled studio album.
Irish pop sensation Lyra has dropped the latest single from her upcoming self-titled album, which is set to include the recently released belters ‘Chess’ and ‘Drink Me Up.’ Entitled ‘Queen,’ the new single is instilled with feelings of freedom and sexual liberation, centered around themes of promiscuity, pleasure and womanhood.
“This song is bad-ass,” explained Lyra. “It presents a version of myself that I was always scared to be. It’s a reminder that you need me and I don’t need you, and I can be my own Queen.”
The new track expertly navigates the ongoing gender bias within sexual encounters, particularly one night stands, in which men are praised and women are labelled “easy.” The candid, confessional narrative is an anthem of female empowerment created with the intention of reclaiming ownership over female sexuality.
“It’s a reminder that I/we don’t need validation from anyone, this is my life so watch me live it. I will be my own Queen,” Lyra said.
A song of empowerment, Lyra’s raw vocals and poignant lyrics set the tone of the song from its opening lines, harnessing a newfound strength and intensity that is sure to lie at the heart of her forthcoming album.

“I wanted this song to be grittier and underground, with a lot of attitude. It’s a sassy song,” Lyra explained. “This is for all women, about being our own Queens.”
Gearing up for the release of her self-titled album, Lyra has been met with rapturous applause across the country during her ongoing Irish headline tour, selling out two nights at Dublin’s 3Olympia along with two nights at the Cork Opera House.
