Belfast-based Naoise Roo has shared her latest single ‘Sacred Cow’, from her upcoming album Emotionally Magnificent.
The country-tinged, noir-pop track displays a sense of mutual and creative liberation.
"It’s a satirical take on the notion of the "sacred cow," in this context its referring to someone who you see as perfect or a "white knight" figure,” said Roo on her latest single. “I wanted to explore my own reactions to the notion of being saved and taken care of, whether I felt worthy or indeed if I really needed it.”
Accompanying ‘Sacred Cow’ is an entertaining, surrealist video courtesy of Canada-based Irish filmmaker Caoimhe Clancy.
"I wanted to make a cowboy-inspired video," revealed Roo. "We both wanted something that felt fun, queer and an homage to the art and filmmakers we like. We thought it'd be fun to bring that energy with a bit of Calamity Jane.”

Emotionally Magnificent is Naoise Roo’s sophomore album and the follow up to her acclaimed debut Lilith.
The project is produced by Liam Mulvaney and features Gilla Band’s Daniel fox on bass and guitar, Rian Trench of Solar Bears on drums and synths as well as Karl Tobin on guitar.
“This album is a collage of so many different things,” said Roo in relation to her new album. “We took so many tiny elements, from playing drawers and hitting loads of random things to build a real textural soundscape.”
“For me, one of the most fun and nourishing things is bringing together people who are infinitely talented and just working it out together as we go,” she added.
