Nnic is the alias of Irish artist and performer: Naoise Fitzgerald - known for melding ethereal productions with soul vocals.
Neo-soul/electro-pop artist Nnic is back with a brand new track, 'When You're There' - taken from her forthcoming Slow Motion Fantasy EP.
The Irish act's latest EP is set for release everywhere on July 30th, 2021. Hot Press previously encountered the impressive Nnic when she performed on our Lockdown Sessions Y&E Series.
A track that touches the vivid art/pop stratospheres first chartered by Christine & The Queens, La Roux and St Vincent; 'When You're There' is also accompanied with stunning visuals, courtesy of award-winning installation artist Aoife Dunne.
Offering an abstract representation of time pressure, loss of control and the need for escapism, the song finds Nnic juxtaposing these relatable feelings with electrifying grasp.
'When You’re There' makes sure to take an explicit jab at the current landscape surrounding body acceptance and change in attitudes.

Taking on social media’s propagation of filtered and distorted body imagery, Nnic vents her frustration at ‘all this bulls**t we are told’ in one of many lambasting ripostes aimed at pro-distortion platforms.
Written by Nnic, the new track was engineered and mixed by long time collaborator and fellow Irish artist James Smith - AKA Yurn (now performing under his J. Smith moniker).
"When I heard the demo of 'When You’re There', I got really excited... It’s quite a lo-fi sounding song, so I gave it a little richness with some piano and saturated some violin that ebbs and flows,” Yurn says.
A stylised, synth-pop marvel that’s unafraid to get political, Nnic's Slow Motion Fantasy EP sets sleek electronic soundscapes to lyrical explorations of distorted realities, traditional gender roles and suburban attitudes.
“The concept for the EP was born out of the need for vibrant energetic escapism whilst living amongst the slow outdated attitudes found only in cushy suburbia," Nnic says of the exciting creative project.
"Slow Motion Fantasy aims at the perception that living in suburbia is the quintessential ‘ good life’ but in reality, it's the breeding ground for unprogressive ignorance.”
Like the lead single, the EP was created remotely in collaboration with Yurn. Amplifying the themes that course through its every fibre, the work is accompanied with the plastic technicolour of its eye-catching cover created by Aoife Dunne. Nnic upends the ‘traditional housewife’ stereotype with an absurdist twist.

To date, the breakout artist has garnered over two million streams on Spotify from her enrapturing single releases alone, from 'Pillars', 'Grow' and 'The Place' to '8th Wonder' and 'Looking For Love' feat. Yurn.
