Listen to the Irish songstress' cinematic debut release below.
The debut release from Irish indie-folk songwriter, producer and award-winning screen composer Niamh Ní Mheara under the new moniker nvara, 'you say' is a gently transporting and minimalistic track of dream-like vocals and soft piano chords.
Blending alternative folk and ambient cinematic sounds, the release serves as a raw and vulnerable exhibit of the music the artist has been crafting in 2024.
The song was originally written for the short film Very Very Open by London-based director Isis Hope Llyod, and portrays the passing of time after a relationship, musing through the different stages of nostalgia, loss and heartbreak through ethereal vocals and dreamy sonic landscapes.
Commenting on her debut release under her new moniker, nvara says: “The prospect of putting myself out there and releasing personal music again is slightly terrifying, but at the same time, I feel ready. It feels like I’m finally making the music I’ve always wanted to. 'you say' is a song I would listen to and that makes me proud. Hopefully other listeners will resonate with it too.”
Currently based in London, Ní Mheara has been an active performing artist in the Irish and UK circuit since the successful release of her first single 'Living in Your Mind' in 2020.
