Dublin native Orla Gartland has released a deluxe edition of her debut album Woman On The Internet today, to the delight of her growing fanbase.
Dublin singer-songwriter and producer Orla Gartland is marking the anniversary of the release of her debut album Woman on the Internet by sharing a digital deluxe anniversary edition of the record.
The anniversary edition features five previously unheard tracks - including new song ‘Afterlife’, live versions of ‘Bloodline’ and ‘You’re Not Special, Babe’, an acoustic version of ‘More Like You’, and a thrilling remix of ‘Over Your Head’ by LA-based musician SASAMI.
The short track demo of 'Afterlife' stands out a mile on the deluxe edition, a steady set of piano chords placing Orla's vocals and lyrics in the centre.
"Let me know, I'll be waiting in the wings with a popcorn and a coke/watching all the people choke/'cause they don't know it's a warm up round," she croons above a soothing piano melody. "Thank God we get one more try, 'cause we're fucking this one up/I guess I'll see you in the afterlife."
Gartland has steadily made a name for herself since the age of 14 online for her on-the-nose lyrics brimming with charm and compassion. 'Afterlife' is another gem in her arsenal of relatable, catchy tunes.

Of the deluxe release, Orla says: “My first album, Woman on the Internet, is a year old and to celebrate I’m releasing a digital-only anniversary edition of the record. There are 5 new offerings - some alternative versions of tracks from the album, a demo of a song that didn’t make the initial cut & my absolute favourite; a remix of ‘Over Your Head’ by SASAMI. This total re-imagining of the track makes me feel things - it’s brutal, it’s magnificent, I am obsessed. SASAMI is incredible and her latest album Squeeze is a must listen.”
The release follows a string of touring, including a triumphant Electric Picnic set last weekend, a run of UK headline shows and postponed homecoming Ireland tour.
There was also the huge renewed success of her 2019 single ‘Why Am I Like This’, thanks to a poignant appearance in adorable Netflix series Heartstopper.
Gartland’s acclaimed debut album Woman on the Internet followed her first two EPs, 2019’s Why Am I Like This? and the follow up Freckle Season, which was released in February last year. Between them, Gartland’s songs have amassed over 147 million streams and more than 1.3 million monthly Spotify listeners. Comparisons have been made to artists such as Stevie Nicks, St. Vincent, Regina Spektor and HAIM.
Born and raised in the Irish capital, Gartland started writing songs as a young teen. Unable to convince any of the 18+ local pubs and venues to let her perform, she honed her craft online, before heading out on tour the day she finished school. On her return she packed her bags and moved to London, spending the next few years writing, recording, touring and gathering fans apace. It seems like everything's worked out!
