Over the track's smooth and sumptuous production chops, Pat Lagoon's smooth and varied flows flicker with technicolour richness, gulping down consonants with no coming up for air.
On ‘Imposter,' Pat Lagoon creates a unique arena sound with iridescent synths and pummelling basslines. Such a venue suits him on this song.
With lush chops refracted through psychedelic prisms and propulsive rhythm section, Pat Lagoon creates a unique soundscape that is both nostalgic in spirit and fresh by design.

The track’s subject matter deals with doubting one’s abilities and feeling like a fraud, as with ‘imposter syndrome.’
Pat breaks down the track, commenting: “Impostor is a track that describes the troubles I and many others go through with ‘imposter syndrome’. This occurs in everyday life whether it’s being a good sibling, son, friend, colleague and artist. I think this is one of the biggest hindrances in a lot of our lives especially if you are someone who tends to strive and care about things they are fond of and cannot accept that they are actually doing alright at it.”

With a duet recalling that of Nelly Furtado and Timbaland, the rapper channels certain early ‘00s rap sensibilitiesv.
Waterford native Hannah Malone contributed vocals and harmonies to balance Pat’s point-blank delivery. Effervescent grooves bubble underneath the fragile wisps of her upper register, making for an infectious listen that immediately charms listeners.
“This is a first collaboration between us both, as we really try to personify impostor syndrome,” Pat remarks on their collaboration. “Hannah really adds texture and fullness in this track to unify the hip hop/funk and neo-soul, a direction and sound I have really enjoyed submerging myself in.”
