Dublin rock group Pillow Queens' new single deals with the torment of leaving a collapsing relationship.
When speaking about their new track, Cathy McGuinness - lead vocalist and lead guitarist of Pillow Queens says "'Gone' is a song that looks into the vapid nature of brief romantic encounters and the hyperbole that can become so monotonous, it makes you jaded".
In short, 'Gone' is a blistering, raw track for those of us who have been through the dreaded situationship mill - an experience that can leave you devastated.
Lead vocalist, guitarist and bassist Pamela Connolly adds to McGuinness' contribution saying: "Lines like, 'I was in your top five things to do' convey a lack of self-worth that’s tackled throughout the album. It’s a song that showcases a vulnerability that allows for no silver linings–it's the reality of how someone is feeling in the moment."
As is Pillow Queen's signature - 'Gone' is somehow incredibly vulnerable without compromising on pulsating rock and roll betas. The masterful line that Pillow Queens straddle between sincerity and scratchy riffs is never lost on 'Gone'.

The track came together at the end of a jam session during a songwriting retreat in The Burren on the West Coast of Ireland, and 'Gone' retains something of the jagged landscape with guitars that jigsaw together together to form a prickly rock track that builds into a vocal crescendo.
Sharing the news on Instagram, the critical acclaimed group shared a post on Monday and hinted at their upcoming album, which was announced today.

'Gone' is the latest release of Pillow Queens upcoming project - their third LP Name Your Sorrow, the lead single of which, 'Suffer' was released in November 2023. 'Suffer' was written in the depths of winter and the band says of the track that "cold really penetrates the song," Pillow Queens say about the song.
'Gone' is a track which deals with healing but not with platitudes and empty soothing, but with cathartic and honest release- it's an unflinching guitar lead track.
