The '90s-tinged video stars Erin McCarthy as a fan adoring of her favourite band, but will she lose her temper?
Cork indie trio Rowan are back with an infectious new single, plus a nostalgic video that traces the rollercoaster of emotions harboured by one of the band's imagined fans in her bedroom.
Working with Luke Kelly-Wilmot on the clip, Rowan don't actually appear in the video save for footage to be watched on the protagonist's dated TV in her room. The Nineties are all over the aesthetic of the video, which sees the subject lose her temper and rip up her beloved photos of Rowan.
There's even a teddy bear with a blonde wig taking on a cameo role.
"Take back the night to bring yourself forward/into the light/we'll bring ourselves closer/bring back the day," lead vocalist Dylan Howe proclaims on the track's indie-rock heavy chorus. With tones similar to that of Inhaler, The Academic, Neon Trees and Circa Waves, the Irish outfit have nailed their sound.
Rowan unveiled their debut album, Does It Make You Happy?, back in May. After releasing their first EP No One Is Safe Here in November of 2020, the threee-piece have quickly become one of the biggest new Irish acts around. Last year, they signed an exciting deal with Los Angeles-based record label Beverly Martel, and worked with legendary producer Tim Palmer (U2, Pearl Jam) on their new album.
