We're thrilled to present Ruth Mac's new single, 'Living Room', as our Track Of the Day.
The song, out today, is the lead single and title-track from the Berlin-based, Galway native's upcoming debut EP – which is set to be released in October on Beth Shalom Records.
'Living Room' is a joyful, uplifting ode to everyday pleasures, with its roots stretching back to a burst of positivity during the drearily long lockdown Ruth spent in a one-room apartment in Kreuzberg, Berlin.
“It was a time when the living room became so much more than the living room," she says of the irresistible track. "It was our dancefloor, our office, our studio... always remaining a cosy hideaway in a weird ol’ time. There was a lot of love in those four walls and the song spilled out in a moment of gratitude for this shared haven.”
Ruth grew up in Kinvara, where she began playing with local musicians at a young age. Though her sound continues to develop and explore new territories, these early influences live on, in an vocal style that draws from the best of '70s folk.

Her debut EP, Living Room, was written and recorded between a makeshift studio in her parent’s garden in Kinvara and her Berlin studio. The four-track release explores a changing concept of home and belonging.
