Rising Irish act, Ruth Mac, has released her new single 'Tutti Frutti'.
Singer-songwriter Ruth Mac has released her new lo-fi track entitled ‘Tutti Frutti’.
This nostalgic song opens with a tranquil, echoing sound that then blends seamlessly with its gentle guitar riffs. The track ends on a more upbeat note that makes you want to dance.
“The track was inspired by a prompt to reflect on a teenage friendship that’s had a lasting effect on you. Someone sprang to mind immediately! A lifelong friend that introduced me to bands that changed my musical course entirely, lent me my first electric and ‘engineered’ my first recording session on a janky 4-track in the living room above his family’s pub in Tuam,” Mac says.
The song was co-produced by Mac the drummer Mark Glaister. Other collaborators included Barra MacMahon on keys and vocals and Nick Fox on Bass. 'Tutti Frutti' was mastered by Katie Tavini.
When talking about writing the single, Mac says, “As a songwriter, there are some tracks that you toil over and tweak for months, even years, on end. Others just spill out immediately, as if from nowhere. The latter was true for ‘Tutti Frutti’. It practically wrote itself on a short flight from Dublin to London.”
