Tipperary native Andrew Smyth returns under the moniker smythy with another single from his upcoming debut EP.
Known by his stage name, smythy, Tipperary-born Andrew Smyth is making moves in the Irish music scene with his pop inspired take on the indie genre.
Reeling from his great success with recent single 'Good Time', smythy has released the second offering from his upcoming EP. Collaborating with Dublin-based producer James Smith, smythy and his band have recorded four indie-pop tracks scheduled for release on his debut EP titled 'Where You're From', due out in October 2023.
His latest release, the single 'Figure It Out', encapsulates the artist's lo-fi indie feel, ripe with catchy pop melodies and earworm lyrics that have listeners singing along. Soft guitar accompanies twinkling drum beats, setting the perfect tempo for this dreamy bop. The song's gradual build brings listeners along on a scrumptious ride, culminating in a final chorus that compels listeners to sing along.
Presented as a letter to oneself, 'Figure It Out' is described by the artist as "an introspective track unravelling the narrative of a man's quest to try and understand his place in the world."

“'Figure It Out' is a sort of anthem for people in their mid to late twenties who are only now realising that their life is theirs to live," smythy explains. "It’s about getting older and the anxieties that come with having to decide what kind of person you’re going to be. Sometimes it can feel like there’s a perfect way to live one's life and that can be daunting and lead to decision paralysis which is something I’ve struggled with a lot in my life. This track is probably one of my favourites and has helped me understand what direction I want my life to go in.”
