Intrusive thoughts about humiliation, social anxiety and regrets all play a dominant role in the playful R&B-tinged track.
County Sligo singer-songwriter Sofia Stanley has shared her brand new track 'Why?', and it's as relatable as they come. Following on from her 2020 single 'Angel' and 2019's 'Sweet Sweet Smile', Stanley is back with a bang.
The 17-year-old Birmingham-based artist sings of her most embarrassing moments that simply won't give her mind peace, from calling your teacher 'mum' and committing a photobomb to getting someone's name wrong and wanting the ground to swallow you whole.
The indie-pop anthem is released today, and incorporates a hugely wide variety of styles and sounds fused in rock, electro-pop and soulful R&B.
I don't want to know what they're thinking, yeah/ 'Cause if I did, I'd lose myself/ I'll never forget it / But does that mean that they ever will?
For anyone who has ever spent long stretches of the night re-living social faux-pas and mortifyingly clumsy incidents from their past, 'Why?' will surely resonate deeply.
"I recorded and produced the song myself in my home studio, back in October, using Logic Pro X on my laptop and voice memos on my iPhone," Sofia Stanley tells Hot Press.

"Sound-wise, the song was inspired by a wide variety of different artists, ranging from Julia Michaels, Ariana Grande, with a little pinch of Shania Twain in there! More music is coming soon, my debut EP is currently in the works, and is just around the corner.
Despite having no gigs planned as of yet, Sofia performs livestream shows every week on her social channels. Stay tuned for the 'Why?' music video, which is set to arrive next Friday, March 26th.
