One heart, two cities. Who could explain the feeling, of being at one place while missing another at the same time, better than Irish singer-songwriter Sorcha Richardson, who moved to America at the age of 18?

Returning to Ireland last summer for a ‘short holiday’, her new single 'Can't We Pretend' is about splitting her life between New York and Dublin, and its impact on friendships. It is a love letter to her hometown revealing a vulnerability and honesty that is both beautiful and sad. With powerful lines such as "It’s raining in New York too, that doesn’t mean I’m any closer to you", it might be Sorcha's most emotional piece so far, stripped-back led by her melodic voice. In some ways, it makes an older maturer sibling to 'I Heart NYC', the track which catapulted Sorcha in the public eye – and is now nearly impossible to find.

We're still hoping her long-awaited debut album will materialise sooner rather later, but in-between she's built an excellent collection of songs to listen to over and over and over again.
