Cinematic video for the song has been released a week ahead of new album’s arrival.
Festivalling at the likes of Glastonbury, Electric Picnic and Other Voices, Susie Blue has been making herself known, and rightfully so. Initially playing solo in her career, she is now joined by friends Caolan Moore (lead guitar), Feargus Murphy (drums) and Mark Doherty (bass), who have only added to her dreamy, shoegaze sound.
The album, entitled the same as the lead single, explores the uncertainties and insecurities of adolescence, which are rocked further by the process of coming out. The title track does all of this expertly, with a brilliant video to boot. In an aesthetic of pastels and bubblegum colours that match the pop feel of the tune, it presents a tale of misfits causing chaos in the name of fun. It’s only at the end of the video that we see they may feel like misfits in another sense too. For a video that’s great craic, the often melancholic lyrics make more sense at this reveal.
With a sound not unlike her fellow Northern Irish contemporary SOAK, albeit a bit rock heavier, Susie Blue is going to make waves (Pale Waves, perhaps, who she also shares a similarity with!)
