SYNTHIENT is a new collaborative alias for Irish composers and producers Kayley Phelan (KBOB) and Aran Sheehy.
‘B1-66ER’, their first track as a duo, takes it's name from 2003 film The Animatrix. ‘B1-66ER’ pays homage to ‘90s IDM and jungle with a modern twist, taking inspiration from 90's Warp Records legends, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, and Boards of Canada. The track merges the intricate breakbeats found in Aran Sheehy's previous work with the deep textures that KBOB is renowned for.
Both producers bring the best of their skills to this track. KBOB has made waves as a producer at only the age of 17. The artist- yet to sit her leaving cert- has been signed to Of Us Records and set to release an upcoming solo single under the techno label. Aran Sheehy has boasted over 1 million streams on Spotify, with his debut single ‘Burn’ in collaboration with AILSHA, reaching number 1 on the iTunes Electronic Charts.
The duo are currently working on a full length album as SYNTHIENT, set to be released in early 2025.
