Irish indie duo The Fifth Kind are back with their second single 'Capsized.'
Picture this: Elliott Smith never really died. Instead, he was simply hiding the voices of two Irish lads. Don't believe me? Check out indie couplet The Fifth Kind's sophomore single 'Capsized' and see for yourself.
The arrangements that keep this track suspended are simple yet effective in what they create, led by acoustic guitar, percussion and the use of sound effects.
Gentle strings of melodies float the tune along, pushed by the intricate and air-engineered vocals of band members Evan Butler and Andrew Berry, resulting in an ethereal but undeniably polished chime.
The track was born from a place of hardship and looks into the difficulties that come with periods of change in life, speaking of hitting rock bottom but being saved by the people you love.
The pair credit the song with "writing itself in minutes" and thematically references boats and ships to convey the various unpredictable tendencies of life.

The pair released their first single, 'Things You Do', later last year, and it was a product of their partnership within a shared space during lockdown where they call all the time in the world to bounce demos off each other and hone their craft.
'Capsized' was released on June 21 and is now available for digital streaming. Check it out below for a listen!
