The Irish quartet have shared a new single, produced by the Grammy-nominated Chris O'Brien.
Rising four-piece band The Flavours have revealed their latest single today in the form of the ultra-catchy 'Other Song'.
With production from Chris O'Brien (Clannad, The Waterboys, Westlife, Aslan, Emma Langford, etc), the Cork group inject influences of classic soul, funk and indie rock into the funky new track. 'Other Song' marks the first single from the outfit since 2022's 'Race to the Heart', their first in two years.
The song itself takes the listener through the timeline of a relationship, from its inception to breakdown and finally looking back after the relationship has concluded. Backed by a delicate arrangement of instruments which frame frontwoman Ella Compton's soulful vocals effortlessly, 'Other Song' is brimming with emotive lyricism and a well-rounded sonic palette.
Beginning with a gentle electric guitar riff before Compton's voice enters the room, there's neo-soul oozing from every pore of the single. Saxophone solos, blues melodies and universal subject matter allows the listener to immerse themselves in their soothing sound.
“This breakdown of a relationship is not because the protagonists don’t love each other but because their own individual mental health isn’t at the right place to give each other what they need," The Flavours explain. "The first verse and chorus mirror the simplistic opening stages of the relationship, followed by a rhythmically and harmonically different bridge to represent changes in the protagonist's feelings. The final crescendo takes place sometime after the relationship is finished, with a retrospective horn idea mirroring the backing vocals.”
The Flavours is composed of cousins Julian Power and Jordan Roche - who form the backline on bass and drums respectively - alongside the decadent guitar playing of Jordan Devlin and the stunning vocals of Ella Compton.

With further releases expected and plenty more live shows, 2023 is shaping up to be a busy one for The Flavours.
