Tung in Cheek's new single 'Ragbag Púca' was recorded and mixed by David Anthony Curly at The Clinic Recording Studios.
Dublin trio Tung In Cheek have shared their laidback new offering 'Ragbag Púca', a hungover and jaded synopsis of a dull city life.
Presented through the eyes of someone jaded by social media, the song bounces from one idea to another, illuminating various dis satisfactions within the protagonists life. The timing couldn't be more potent for a track like this, given the damage done by lockdowns to Ireland's nightlife and cultural scene.
As 'Ragbag Púca' progresses, the chorus bursts with honesty and nostalgia. The various lead guitar melodies waving over the smooth bouncy bass line creates a somber but heartfelt vibe throughout the song.
It’s a track built on jazz-inflicted guitar hooks and smooth, reggae-tinted bass. In stark contrast to the band's catalogue to date, the vibe is sombre, downtempo and heartfelt — a refreshingly mature addition in Tung in Cheek's continuously evolving catalogue.
The band have created a sustainable and unique presence since forming in 2019, marking an upbeat post-pop bass colliding with psychedelic guitar effects. Tung in Cheek have implemented their own influences to reinforce this sound and rely upon the likes The Stone Roses, Dope Lemon, and Outkast to emphasise their indie aura.

The band is composed of former members of The Klares, who experienced a successful stint under the guidance of MCD Productions at a young age. After putting education first, the band came to an end but they continued their interest in writing and performing music. A degree in the back pocket coincided with the collaboration of RIAM percussionist, Chris Brady, lit the flame for a new chapter and the creation of Tung in Cheek. The post-indie outfit now features Andy Burke (lead vocals), Chris Brady (drums) and Eoin O'Shea (lead guitar).
