Her transfer has been completed before Deadline Day!
Tracy Clifford is to join the 2fm team with an afternoon slot book-ended by The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene and new Drive man Eoghan McDermott who's interviewed in the new issue of Hot Press, out Thursday. The present incumbent, Rick O'Shea, is moving to weekends where he'll partner from 11am-1pm on Saturday and Sunday with Cormac Battle.
“Growing up, 2fm was always the station on in the car," Clifford enthuses. "I actually think that is where my interest and love of radio started at a young age. So for me now to say that it's my new radio home is such a surreal but unbelievably exciting moment. It is an honour to follow in the footsteps of my radio heroes. I cannot wait to get cracking.”
Cutting her teeth on college radio, Clifford got her first paying gig as an East Coast FM newsreader before being appointed Head of News at Spin 1038 and then in 2008 becoming part of the Fully Charged with Ryan & Tracy duo that has served the Dublin dance station so well in the ratings.
She also helmed the popular Spin Saturday Night Takeover dance show.
Reflects 2fm station chief Dan Healy: “Tracy Clifford has been a household name for younger audiences in Dublin, having been part of an extremely successful breakfast show. Large audiences are already familiar with her humour, passion for music and her journalistic skills, and now with her national radio station debut, the rest of you are about to get a blast of the Tracy Clifford magic. It’s an exciting period for both Tracy and our listeners.”
Further 2fm schedule announcements are expected over the coming weeks.
