Karen Cowley talks supporting the Jamaican icon and what else is on the agenda for the festival season.
You can see how badass she was back in the day, when it was much harder for women in music. She makes it look easy though!
It’s gonna be an incredible honour for Wyvern Lingo to support Grace Jones. She’s definitely the biggest artist we’ve ever played with, so we’re pretty excited and a little bit nervous. We want to bring our A-game! I admire her for her legacy. In interviews online, you can see how badass she was back in the day, when it was much harder for women in music. She makes it look easy though! She really set a high bar. Just seeing how unbelievably assertive and strong she was is very inspiring. I can’t wait to meet her.
I got into her music within the last five years, so I haven’t seen her live. One of our sound guys has though, and he said she is unbelievable. I know it’s going to be a really great show and I’m sure her musicians will be incredible, so it’ll be a serious learning curve for us.

Last year I went to the Trinity Summer Series to see Alt-J and it was such a nice setting. I went to Trinity as a student, so it’s gonna be really cool to come back and play there, especially now that people are more familiar with the album. We’re feeling pretty good about the live set.
We play Galway International Arts Festival and Limerick with Walking On Cars before Trinity, and the Indiependence Festival in Cork afterwards. We’ve also lined up a load of shows for after the summer rush, including headlining the Academy on September 28.
