Here are ten Irish acts to get you off to a Friday flyer!
Tomorrow will hopefully be a massive day for Irish artists as Bandcamp waive their commission and give 100% of the money spent on music and merch to the creators.
Among those hoping that online business will be brisk are Northern Irish folk outfit Trú who, like so many other bands and solo artists, have been floored by the Covid-19 crisis.
"We were supposed to be going on tour over the next few months to England, Germany, Switzerland and across Ireland," they tell us. "The money raised was going to cover the huge cost of manufacturing, promoting, releasing and touring our debut album. Like every other independent artist, we have no financial backer. Then what happened happened... So we compiled this EP of limited-edition live material that you could have purchased if you'd gone to a gig. This is the first of a few one-off releases planned. Please feel free to pay what you see fit to support art and those who make it through this uncertain time."
There's an almost infinite number of Irish acts that deserve your support but here, for starters, are some of the ones featured in The A&R Department in our current issue. So, go on, fill your digital boots...
