RTÉ 2fm School Of Rock competition winners The Truffle Shuffles have scored a place on the bill for this year's Oxegen festival.
The young Ballincollig four-piece proved their worth this January when the won the top prize at the RTÉ 2fm School of Rock 2009.
Now as part of their prize they've been offered a slot at Oxegen. 2fm DJ Rick O'Shea had the pleasure of giving the band the news live on air today.
And the good news has yet to sink in, as shocked frontman Nathan O’Regan explains: “We're absolutely delighted! We still can’t believe that we’re actually playing at Oxegen 2009. It’s unbelievable. All of us are absolutely thrilled.”
MCD promoter Noel Mc Hale was one of the School of Rock judges who Truffle Shuffles impressed last month: “Truffle Shuffles were the outstanding contenders in this years competition", he says.

"They have got genuine soul and passion in their music and full credit to RTÉ 2fm for once again running the School of Rock Competition. It’s a breath of fresh air compared to the many other contrived talent competitions and will make more kids pick up guitars and play real music. The Truffle Shuffles are sure to impress all who see them at Oxegen so check them out on the new band stage.”
And it's going to be a heck of a year for the lads, as their prize winnings include a €10,000 gift voucher for Everest Music & Piano Centre in Bray and Dun Laoghaire, recording time in Pulse Studios, a Hot Press interview, a professional photo shoot, and more.
