The Black Panther soundtrack, long anticipated, has been released. Film soundtracks can see a long shelf life, as proven recently by The Greatest Showman soundtrack, unflinching on the Irish charts for three weeks at the top spot. Boasting some of the most notable artists of late, from Kendrick Lamar, to SZA, to James Blake and the Weeknd, we bet that this one will have similar successes.

Knowing the album was produced under the guidance of Lamar was enough to set the internet ablaze. Other artists that feature include Anderson.Paak, alongside relatively unknown artists such as Mozzy, Babes Wodumo, SOB x RBE and Zulu-singing Sjava.

If you listen to one thing today, make it the Black Panther Album. Kendrick + Top Dawg killed that.

Marvel’s Black Panther has been celebrated as a depiction of black empowerment, carrying with it the message that young, black people can be heroes too. And its musical counterpart is as weighty in production values and subject matter.
