Twitter audiences had their say on Eurovision 2021, which saw Italy claiming 1st prize and the UK bagging 0 points.
Italy emerged as the victors of this year's Eurovision song contest in Rotterdam. Måneskin from Italy emerged victorious on a night where the UK garnered a grand total of 0 points from both the judges and the voting audience.
What has seemingly overtaken the competition itself is the accusation that Måneskin frontman Damiano David had snorted cocaine live on air in front of millions of viewers, though the singer claims he was actually picking up broken glass. When questioned during the Eurovision press conference, David said: "Thomas broke a glass, I don't use drugs please guys, do not say that."
The band also addressed the allegations on their Instagram account, saying: "We are really shocked about what some people are saying about Damiano doing drugs. We really are against drugs and we never used cocaine. We are ready to get tested, 'cause we have nothing to hide."
"We are here to play our music and we are happy about our Eurovision win and we wanna thank everyone for supporting us."

UK competitor James Newman was pictured asking for, “at least 1,” point from the public before it was announced they had gotten nul. The singer then stood up and in good nature, splashed those around him in beer. While some suggested Brexit was the reason for the UK's disastrous points results, much of the Irish tweeters pointed out that the nation had been fighting a losing Eurovision battle years before their dramatic exit from the European Union.
Colonising half the world doesn't earn you many loyal fans, shockingly! Especially when their presenter, Amanda Holden, pretended not to know the difference between the French and Dutch languages. Holden was trending on Twitter shortly afterwards, let's hope she didn't check her phone the next morning...
Italy won the competition with 524 points with Måneskin's riotous rock song, ‘Zitti E Buono.’ They were followed by France in second with 499 points and the Swiss who finished in third with 432 points. This was Italy’s third Eurovision victory and their first since 1990 with Toto Cutugno’s song, ‘Insieme: 1992.’
The competition shifted between France and Switzerland during the judges' votes - however, once the public votes were included, Italy steamrolled their way to victory. San Marino's effort with Flo Rida and Senhit and their song, ‘Adrenalina,’ failed to ignite viewer’s as they finished 22nd out of the 26 finalists.
Here was how Twitter reacted to the events, from obsessing over Måneskin's four members and sympathising with James Newman to funny moments and cultural stereotyping; there was something for everyone.

I’m starting to feel bad for the United Kingdom 😩 Their Love Island bop deserved at least a cheeky four points from someone 🥺
