The remastered version of U2's first EP Three comes as a limited edition vinyl.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of their first release Three – or U23 as it was titled – U2 are reissuing the EP as part of an exclusive Black Friday sale.
Originally released in Ireland in September 1979, U23 features three songs recorded at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin with producer Chas De Whalley – 'Out Of Control', 'Stories For Boys' and 'Boy-Girl'. The A-side was chosen via a listener poll on Dave Fanning's RTÉ 2fm (Irish national radio) music show. The release of the debut EP was also the spark for the band's forst cover of Hot Press, with an interview with the four members of hte band – and then manager Paul McGuinness – carried out by Hot Press editor Niall Stokes.
The record was remastered in 2019 and pressed on 180gsm black vinyl, this limited edition vinyl EP is being released today, November 29, via independent retailers. For details of participating record stores visit www.recordstoreday.com.
