Another 'first' for U2
In August, U2 announced that they'll play in Manila for the first time ever in December. Now, they add another 'first' to their tour schedule: On December 15, the Irish rock legends are set to play their last concert of The Joshua Tree Tour 2019 in Mumbai, India.
The Joshua Tree Tour 2019 is a 'reboot' of their tour from 2017, when they celebrated the 30th anniversary of their seminal album The Joshua Tree. You can check out previously announced dates for The Joshua Tree Tour 2019 here and here.
U2 are looking forward for their first time in India. The Edge tells Billboard: "For me [the most exciting thing is] actually getting to meet our Indian audience and see who they are - and visiting this incredible subcontinent for the first time. It's going to be a frustration not being able to do so many things on a time constraint, but the chance to put your toe in the water is tantalizing and exciting."

Bono is equally excited, although maybe a little intimidated as well: "We have been spoiled over the years by the reaction of U2 fans", he says, "We're used to walking out into a roar like a 747 taking off. And we earned that in this city [New York] or Boston - all across the United States, we played clubs, we played to a hundred people, two hundred people. We haven't done that in India and we don't have a right to expect that same roar. We haven't put in the time. But we're going, and we will try to be worthy of people's interest in us."
U2 will play the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, India on December 15, 2019. General ticket sale starts on October 1.
