In the run-up to the 20th anniversary of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, U2 have announced a special new 'shadow album', How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb – featuring previously unreleased songs from the original album recording sessions. To coincide with the news, the band have shared the first two songs from the project, 'Country Mile' and 'Picture Of You (X + W)'.
How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb is set to get its own standalone release on November 29. It will be available as a limited edition black and red marble vinyl LP for Record Store Day's Black Friday event, and will also be released as a 10-track digital release.
To further mark the upcoming anniversary How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is also being remastered for the first time – a process which saw the band go back to the vault to revisit those early ‘00s recording sessions. Those years have been described as 'a period of intense creativity for U2 in the studio' as well as a 'a time of deep personal and artistic reflection following the passing of Bono’s father Bob in 2001.'
This special 20th anniversary edition, will include the bonus track ‘Fast Cars’. A remastered 20th Anniversary Edition of the album will be released in multiple formats on November 22, including a limited edition Super Deluxe Collectors Boxset.

How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (Re-Assemble Edition) – featuring both the remastered original album and How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb – will also be available as a dual digital release on November 22.
How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb includes previously unreleased and never-before-heard songs like ‘Treason’, ‘Evidence Of Life’, ‘Country Mile’ and ‘Happiness’. It also includes 'Luckiest Man In The World', which will be familiar to some fans under its working title 'Mercy', after an early demo was leaked online almost 20 years ago.
Following its release on November 22, 2004, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb – U2's 11th studio album – went No.1 in 34 countries around the work, including Ireland, the UK and the US. It went on to win a total of eight Grammy Awards, with the single 'Vertigo' alone winning three.
The album was recorded at the band’s studio in Hanover Quay, Dublin and the South of France, and produced by Steve Lillywhite, with additional production from Chris Thomas, Flood, Jacknife Lee, Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, Nellee Hooper and Carl Glanville.
