In our celebration of the 40th Anniversary of U2’s first rehearsal in Larry Mullen’s kitchen, here on hotpress.com we are featuring a stream of articles, recollections and opinions about U2, over the 7 days of 'U2 Week’. As part of that extravaganza, for your delight and delectation, we are nominating an obscure U2 track every day!
'Salome' – 1990 (Even Better Than The Real Thing EP)
Shake it, shake it, shake it, Salome! This is a funky Achtung Baby b-side, which I suspect only hardcore U2 fans know. Well, everyone else is missing out! Apparently, this is one of Robert Plant’s favourite U2 songs. A demo that gave us a taste of Achtung Baby‘s garage-sounding riffs, it is one of U2’s sexiest ever tunes.
Hot Press will continue its U2 40th Anniversary coverage all week long on hotpress.com, and in a special commemorative issue out Thursday 29th September.
