Under The Sun
Cheryl Cole has famously been getting away with not discussing the lyrics on her new album A Million Lights by reasoning that she didn’t write them and therefore can’t be held accountable, but in the case of ‘Under The Sun’, we probably would have figured that much out on our own. The track, a sort of Summertide lust song that suggests that women are more promiscuous when the sun’s out, suffers heavily from real-person syndrome, featuring lyrics so normal they sound totally ludicrous dropping out of a pop superstar’s perfectly plump mouth. Still, if you manage to ignore the words, as Cheryl does, ‘Under The Sun’, with its chiming, carefree background vocals and tinny synth melody, is rather catchy, if not completely addictive.
